I don’t see the scene change / random event mechanics described in the Doom & Dread article.
I’m trying to find what’s described in this passage:
> This is similar to the Chaos Factor from Mythic GME, but I built it into my own system: Doom & Dread. When the Dread Die rolls high, it triggers a random event, and that's how this session began: a random, "ambiguous event."
I don’t think they (or the oracle “yes, but” and extreme results from the Doom & Dread post) are in the Wenderweald one-sheet PDF either. Did those mechanics get dropped later?
Good questions. The Mythic GME introduces a Random Event whenever the Oracle Dice Match (e.g. 1+1, 2+2, etc.)
I do the same thing, but with the Dread Die. I also like to roll it at the beginning of the session because it introduces Plot Points that often exclude the PCs but make life harder for them down the road.
Mechanically, this builds in replacement characters and creates new fronts. It also makes random events less likely as The Dread Die grows, putting a finer point on the story at hand.
To be totally honest, I never in a million years imagined I'd have so many people support this. To that end, I never really thought to codify the rules. I started this as a way to pass time at the barn — lol.
Is that something you'd like to see? Totally open to creating a piece for that. Probably should include that in the next zine issue.
Late to reply, but I appreciated the rundown of how it worked in your latest installment! I’m used to Mythic’s Chaos Factor tamping down random event likelihood, so I wasn’t sure if that factored in before. I like how die size serves that role here. 👍
Love bullet journaling! You're writing/drawing is so evocative. Love seeing your tables. I'm so invested.
Thanks so much! I'm putting together a one-sheet for folks who want to play in the Wenderweald.
Nice! I really should pick up a notebook with a dot grid. I really like the look of yours.

Amazing work
How did you do your hex grids?
Thanks! I cut a template from cardstock and then just dotted in the shape.
Finally got to this. Awesome as always. Loving the unfolding story and really liked the “cut scene.”
