Witches of the Wenderweald is now live on itch.io
Witches of the Wenderweald is Out Now
For more than a year now, I’ve been building a world of contagious witchery and burning zealotry, of muddy swamps and monstrous dark lurking beyond the pines: The Wenderweald.
And now it’s here: Witches of the Wenderweald is now available digitally on itch.io for $0.
What’s in the game
At its heart, Wenderweald is a game about survival in a hostile land. You leave the safety of fortified walls and follow rumors into a land poisoned by ancient witchery. Uncover terrible truths. Make desperate choices. Then, if you’re lucky, you return home scarred by the wilderness and the wilderness.
The game draws inspiration from folk horror, grim fairy tales, OSR adventure gaming, and Eastern European folklore. It’s rules-lite: built to stay out of your way, so you can get lost exploring.
The basic rules is everything you need to play the game. It’s built for solo play and group play — 48 illustrated pages of:
Adventurers, witches, and witch hunters
Fast, dangerous combat where every fight matters
Corruption-driven witchcraft that grants power at a terrible cost
Hex-crawl exploration through the haunted Wenderweald
Monsters, spark tables, downtime activities, and tools for solo or group play
A complete introduction to the setting and its factions
Here’s a sample of the art and layout:

Most importantly, you’ll find a game that wants to be played immediately. Create a character, mark a path on the map, and step beyond the walls.
The Wenderweald is waiting.
I’d love to hear what you discover during your exploration. Share your characters, strange encounters, hard-earned deaths, and favorite moments in the comments.
Thank you to everyone who followed along during development, offered feedback, shared articles, tested rules, and encouraged the project along the way. What began as a handful of sketches and notes has become something much larger because of your support.
This release is only the beginning.
The next step is bringing Witches of the Wenderweald into print.
For now, though, gather your supplies, light a torch, and mind the witch.
It’s too late to flee: the Wenderweald has found you.
